Melissa is a Certified Professional Guide with the PTGAH and immediate past president. Educated at the University of Texas with a concentration in commercial interior design, Melissa became interested in historic preservation in the early 1960s when it was a new concept. She continues to focus on historical Texas with a keen interest in the home life of early settlers. Her tour training comes primarily from the Harris County Heritage Society Docent Training Program. That relationship fostered service as a docent, employment as a staff docent and, finally, a position on the Harris County Board during the mid-1990s with responsibility for planning and coordinating tours for The Heritage Society – which spurred the development of Texas Tour Connection as it exists today. Visit Melissa’s website and send her an email to get your Texas tour in the works. She is presently serving as a Commissioner on the Fort Bend County Historical Commission.
