The PTGAH had a great meeting in August.  We went to Richmond, Texas, just outside of Houston.

Melissa Dixon treated us to a great sunset tour of Historic Richmond to include the Ft. Bend County Courthouse,  statue of Mirabueau B. Lamar, a quick sunset tour of the historic Morton Cemetery, and then a quick view from the levee of the site of Lamar/Jane Long's plantation on the Brazos.

Take a look at some of the pictures below.

The group met at the Statue of Mirabeau B. Lamar for the start of the tour.

We then went over to the Morton Cemetery and Melissa gave everyone a great tour, visiting Lamar and Jane Long's graves.

It got dark and we almost got locked inside.....oooohhhhhh.

Then on to the site of the Morton Ferry @ Ft. Bend where Richmond was founded.  And did the Mexican Restaurant smell goooooood......

Then Melissa took us to the levee and we were able to see the ruins of Lamar's plantation.  We saw the bricks of his cistern, I think....at least everyone else said they say it.......

Bob and Andrew said they saw it....
